1 PURPOSEPurpose and ScopeThe purpose <strong>of</strong> this Code <strong>of</strong> Practice is to providepractical guidance in maintaining safe systems <strong>of</strong><strong>work</strong> in relation to control <strong>of</strong> risks associated with<strong>work</strong> on or near or in the vicinity <strong>of</strong> high voltage<strong>electrical</strong> apparatus in Victoria.2 SCOPEThis Code <strong>of</strong> Practice defines:• Principles; and• Electrical Safety ProceduresThe Principles apply to all persons <strong>work</strong>ing on, nearor in the vicinity <strong>of</strong> high voltage <strong>electrical</strong> apparatuswhich is capable <strong>of</strong> being energised.The Electrical Safety Procedures defined in thisCode apply within the VESI. HV Customers shallapply those procedures required by regulationsand may use the remaining procedures.This Code is also applicable to not <strong>electrical</strong>lyconnected apparatus in situations where therequired level <strong>of</strong> isolation, as defined, cannot beconfirmed prior to <strong>work</strong> commencing, <strong>for</strong> example,on abandoned underground cables.Page 26 <strong>of</strong> 148 Blue Book – December 2005
