4.4.1 Step 1 – Plan and OrganiseThe assessor: establishes the context and purpose of the assessment identifies the competency standards, assessment guidelines andqualifications identifies the Toolkit that has been developed to facilitate the assessmentprocess (if available) interprets the competency standards and identifies the evidencerequirements4.4.2 Step 2 - Prepare the candidateThe assessor meets with the candidate to:explain the context and purpose of the assessment and the assessmentprocessexplain the competency standards to be assessed and the evidence to becollectedoutline the assessment procedure, the preparation which the candidateshould undertake and answer any questionsassess the needs of the candidate and establish any allowable adjustmentsin the assessment procedureseek feedback regarding the candidate's understanding of the competencystandards, evidence requirements and assessment processdetermine if the candidate is ready for assessment and decide on the timeand place of the assessmentdevelop an assessment plan.4.4.3 Step 3 – Collect and Judge EvidenceThe assessor must:establish a plan for gathering sufficient and quality evidence about thecandidate’s performance in order to make the assessment decisionsource or develop assessment materials to assist the evidence gatheringprocessorganise equipment or resources required to support the evidence gatheringprocesscoordinate and brief other personnel involved in the evidence gatheringprocess.establish and oversee the evidence gathering process to ensure its validity,reliability, fairness and flexibilityP a g e | 36
