Once the certificates are validated, and if the job seeker matches therequirements of the job, then an interview will take place and subject to job offer, awork permit will be provided by the host country.1.9 Principles for Recognition & Eligibility of Foreign Tourism ProfessionalsAn <strong>ASEAN</strong> MRA on Tourism Professionals will provide a mechanism for agreement on theequivalence of tourism certification procedures and qualifications across <strong>ASEAN</strong>. Oncethis is achieved, <strong>ASEAN</strong> nations will mutually recognise each other’s qualifications fortourism. This will encourage a free and open market for tourism labour across the regionand boost the competitiveness of the tourism sector in each <strong>ASEAN</strong> nation.The qualification of a Foreign Tourism Professional may be recognised by other <strong>ASEAN</strong>Member States, and if such qualification is recognised, they may be eligible to work in ahost country provided that they possess a valid tourism competency certificate in aspecific tourism job title as specified in the Common <strong>ASEAN</strong> Tourism Curriculum (CATC),issued by the Tourism Professional Certification Board (TPCB) in an <strong>ASEAN</strong> Member State.The eligibility to work in a host country will be subjected to prevailing domestic laws andregulations of the host country.Figure 1-3 The MRA-TP ProcessP a g e | 10
