Yr 5 Netball - GOPS C2 Netball Report. We had 11 very keen players in our Year 5, C2 "GOPs Girls" netball team this year. The girlshad a great season overall and worked on developing their skills and working as a team. Although scores did not always fall in ourfavour, the girls never gave up and I was very proud of the way they were always keen to try and improve each week. Well done girlsand I hope to see you all out on the court again next year. They have been doing their utmost to stave off screen-induced obesity by submitting to vigorous physical activity at trainingafter school, and then on a Saturday morning. Whether in their first or sixth season in a GOPS Soccer shirt they have experienced manyof the positive aspects of a great game that is at its best when played for its sheer enjoyment.Their efforts have provided substantial entertainment value to the assembled crowds, who travelled far and wide, often at unseemlyhours in the ardent support of their heroes. Results - a minor consideration - have remained variable, but the collective improvementin all players and their respective teams has been clearly evident. Many thanks to the various coaches, referees, lines-people, medical workers, caterers, chauffeurs, siblings, etc that have supportedthe best endeavours of the kids this season.

Special thanks to Andy Marshall, having completed his sixth and final coaching stint on the trot. Also concluding his contribution thisyear is Vince Tallura, who refereed his last game recently, having volunteered his services for more years than it is possible to establishwith any certainty. Finally all hail the kids themselves, and the effort, determination and sportsmanship that have characterised their performances onthe field.Hope that you have all enjoyed the season, and that you will be back next year for another go. Grade Sevens, your educationalprogress remains a priority so please continue to pursue your soccer ambitions at the appropriate high school, noting that your debt toGOPS may eventually require your return as a future coach/parent/soccer co-ordinator, not necessarily in that order.Robert TobinU/9s Soccer2012 saw the u/9's build on their efforts of last year to show realimprovement over the course of the season. Coaches Arnaud Vineland Louise Alderson have seen the kids develop both their individualskills and their ability to work as a team. They performed well at thenight carnival and proved a formidable opponent throughout theregular season.Back row; Seb, Arnaud Vinel and Louise AldersonMiddle row left to right; Oliver, Erik, Matthew, Harry, Matthew, Liam and RyanFront row left to right; Henry, Patrick, MatthewU/10s SoccerThe u/10s enjoyed a challenging season in a very competitive league. In their first season in theSeniors, the Grade 6's showed great resolve and saw their determination and effort rewarded with improved performances and resultsas the year went on. With Coach Chris Allan's help the kids skills developed steadily as didtheir understanding of the game, providing a solid foundation for next year.Back row left to right; Jack, Oscar, Reuben, Tom, Liam, James, OscarFront row left to right; Thomas, Oliver, Oliver, Tom, William

Its been a pleasure and an honour tocoach such a fine set of children and I’ll miss them all next year. Many thanks to the parents who have been their usualsupportive selves, but special thank s must go to Vince Tallurafor being our referee this season and Robert Tobin for coordinatingthe games and equipment which is no mean feat initself!Andrew Marshall (G7 Soccer Coach)Back row; Fahri, Dallas, Zach, Nick, Laura, Lily, AmyFront row; Patrick, Emma, Jack, Sarah, Oscar, NicSAPSASA SoccerGlen Osmond Primary School representatives in the South EastDistrict silver winning team were Reuben second from the rightkneeling and Jack standing second from the right.

Aussie Rules FootballOn a wild and windy Wednesday night on the 5th September, approximately 180 people filled the school gym to celebrate and reflecton the wonderful 2012 GOPS school footy season. Aussie Rules football participation rates at the school continue to grow and a specialthank you and acknowledgement must be made to Will and Catherine Henwood. The fantastic work they do at grass roots level atAuskick has inspired a large number of children to launch their football careers with the GOPSTERS.We wish the year 7 footballers, Luka Jackway, Harrison Warwick and Jonathon Crinion all the best in their future schooling andsporting endeavours. We thank them for the excellent manner in which they have represented the school. The fact that they werealways willing to join with players from other schools to form a football team is indicative of their commitment to the sport.Thank you to the coaches and team managers, for doing such a great job throughout the long, wet winter.AuskickVirginia Castine and David PriceWe had a great season with 45 boys and girls attending and all having a great time learning basic football skills. The season culminatedin the final session which included a "water feature" on the school oval (burst water mains which made it a rather muddy exercise!),and of course the kids beating the parents in the final game. Will Henwood was coaching assisted by Les Parsons and James Orchard and a bunch of other parents who were very hands on, wereally did have terrific support on a number of fronts. Thanks to Cath Henwood for administration, Lyndi Parsons for fundraising, andWill Henwood for the last 3 years of coaching and managing the Auskick program. Auskick at GOPS will be run by Tim Green next year.

Yr 2 Football TeamThis is the very first year GOPS has had its own straight year 2 team. The boys had a fantastic year and all developed incredibly withtheir skills during the season. There were only 6 teams in the competition which meant playing the same teams numerous times. Theyhad some fabulous wins and a few losses and a lot of fun along the way.Coach Clay "Chappy" ChaplinStarting at the front left to rightLiam, Will, Oliver, Louis, Alexander, Ryan, Harry, Jamison, Tom,Nicholas, Ted, Hugh, Elliot, Max and Ziggy.Starting at the front: Elliot, Will, Hugh, Lachlan, Ryan, Louis, Jameson,Alexander, Ted and TomBack row: Nick, Clay Chapman, Max, Harry, Ziggy, Liam, Ollie and BenSeekampYr 3 Football TeamIt was a great year of footy for the Year 3 Gopsters side. We were very competitive in all our matches and the boys showed greatimprovement during the year. A particular highlight was a stirring come from behind win against Rostrevor College where we kicked 6goals in the last quarter to turn a 3 goal deficit into a 3 goal win. A special thanks to some Year 1s who plugged a few gaps when welost some players during the year. All up - a very satisfying season for the boys. An early and solid pre-season should see them go fromstrength to strength next year under the expert eye of Chris Thredgold. It's been a pleasure coaching the boys and many thanks to myfootball department for all their assistance, in particular our Team Manager - Sallyann Ling.Coach Andreas ClarkBack row: George, Harry, Oliver, Ethan, Lachlan, Jamie, Henry and AndreasClarkMiddle row: Oscar, Johnny, Will, Ethan, Zak, Will and Jack Front row: Seb,Chris and MasonYear 4/5 FootballThis year marked the first 4/5 Gopsters football side, an outstandingachievement for our reasonably small school, to not have to form acombined schools side. This is my third year of coaching the group who came

up through Auskick, then played 2 years of 2/3 football and now the first year of 4/5. We embarked on a season of 14 rounds with acarnival around the middle of the year. We were able to get the bare minimum number of kids, which is 15, to form our side, so listmanagement was always going to be important. We had the best training staff and medical people Glen Osmond has to offer whichmade sure we were able to have maximum attendance for most games. We did, however, lose one of our lads, young AlexRobinson, in the mid-season draft to Jakarta but we were able to restructure things to get us through. It was always going to be atough season as many of the sides we played were either combined or schools of many more numbers than we had, but to the boyscredit they were always enthusiastic at training and games and I not once heard of one of our boys who didn't want to train or play. There were a couple of nights however, that the coach would have like a little less enthusiasm, but really I wouldn't have changed theirattitudes one bit. The aim for the boys is participation and this year we had a couple of new faces to our side which was great and wecould see some improvement thought the year. Our success was limited but involvement and enjoyment was to the maximum. I wouldlike to say a big thanks to all the parents for their support of the kids and their strong but positive barracking from the boundary. Ahuge thanks to team manager Sally Bullock who made sure we were all clear on what time we had to be anywhere, had rosters doneand played a big part in the end of year break up.Thanks also to Virginia Castine who supported the whole footy program this year, along with David Price, who has done a terrific jobfor many years. We really look forward to a big season in 2013.Coach Chris ThredgoldYr 4/5 action shotsStarting left to right: Lachlan, Will, Luke, Sam and JasperStarting left to right: Jacob, Angus, Jack, Luke, Lachie and Will.Back row: Chris Thredgold, Nelson, Luke, Jasper, Angus, Jai,Jack, CharlieFront row: Lachie, Jacob, Will, Will, Sam, Dugald , Daniel

Year 6 and 7 Football TeamIt has been a great pleasure to coach such an impressive group of boys from the Linden Park, Glen Osmond and Rose Park PrimarySchools. They have had a fantastic season both on and off the field, and have given all parents and supporters much pleasure with theway they have approached their football this year.On field the boys have compiled a very impressive nine wins from thirteen matches, and displayed great skills, endeavour andteamwork. Twenty five boys played for the mighty Eastern Eagles over the course of the season, and to a player everyone contributedfantastically well. Only one team was not beaten by the Eagles this year and given a full complement of players each week I wouldhave gone into any match confident of victory. The team was drawn from across Linden Park, Glen Osmond and Rose Park PrimarySchools, and one of the most impressive things to watch was how the boys banded together and were such a unified and cohesiveteam. In my opinion the mark of a good sportsperson is the way they conduct themselves on the field, and in this area the boys againexcelled. Each and every one should be proud of their seasons and I expect that many of them will go on to bigger and better things onthe footy field.Paul Kemp, Eagles Coach from Linden Park Primary SchoolLeft to right: Harry, Jack, Luka, Euan and JonathonBACKMore to come…KEEP READING
