She was baptized at st. Anthony Church inBatoche. st. Anthony became her favorite saint.After twelve years in Canada her father, disillusioned with theslow progress he had made, decided to move on. In 1905 he sold allhis property, rented a house in Duck Lake for his family and leftfor Algeria where he hoped to move to an ideal tropical climate.Marguerite started school that year and had Sister Trinite asteacher.In 1907 her father returned not having found Africa as he hadhoped and purchased land in the La Plaine area.When the La Plaine School opened in 1909 Marguerite continuedher education there. Marguerite did not leave home until she wasmarried. She was her father's right-hand chore girl, driving the4C;7

Ernest Doucette & Marguerite{Lanovaz) January 7, 1918Model T Ford and the Fordson tractor, or working in the field withhorses.Marguerite married Ernest Doucette on the early morning ofJanuary 7, 1918. They embarked on the C.N. train for theirhoneymoon. The train got stuck in Warman and they were forced tohave dinner there, arriving in Saskatoon much later in the day.They rented land from Mr. Torn Malone and later when this wassold to Mr. Gauthier they purchased a quarter from Ferd Lehmannwhere in 1932 they built a two story log house. This was only 3/4of a mile from La Plaine School. In summer the children would walkthere bare feet. In winter they would go with a stone boat or laterwith a more modern conveyance--a caboose drawn by one horse.In 1950 they purchased the Lanovaz estate property and livedthere for 27 years, farming, raising cattle, milking a number ofcows and selling cream, butter and eggs for household staples.Later dairy trucks would corne to the yard to pick up the rawmilk. Marguerite worked very hard putting in big gardens, canning,and had a big raspberry patch, selling berries by the gallons afterthe family would pick their needs.458

Travelling eight miles to Duck Lake to attend church serviceswas a must, by wagon, buggy or sleigh, summer or winter, for herfaith was ongoing.Going out to pick wild berries such as Saskatoons,chokecherries or cranberries was a joy to her.In 1966 Marguerite and Ernest sold their farm property to theirson Herve (Harvey) where he still resides.They built a house in Duck Lake to retire. They both enjoyedtrips to Little Falls,. Minnesota, her husband's birth place.She was thrilled to go on a senior's bus trip across Canada inthe company of her sisters, Marie Louise (Lanovaz) Klassen andHelene (Lanovaz) D'Aoust. Marguerite and Ernest greatly enjoyedgoing to the lake, on fishing trips with their daughter Denise andhusband Clarence Harder.She always remembered each family member's birthday as well asgrandchildren and great grandchildren down to the fifth generation.Her spouse passed away January 4, 1982 after having celebratedtheir 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries.She had the pleasure to attend a Doucette family reunion inFort Frances, Ontario with her sister Julie (Lanovaz) Doucette'sfamily.On August 26, 1990 she was present at a Lanovaz rendezvous inDuck Lake where there were a large number of family membersattending. Four out of five generations were present.In 1993 poor health caught up with her with surgeries andcancer. She decided to sell her loved residence in Duck Lake whereshe had excelled growing beautiful flowers and a garden which sheshared with the church, shrine and anyone who stopped to visit her.She was admitted in the Goodwill Manor Care Home in Duck Lake andpassed away June 6, 1994 at the beautiful ripe age of 95 years. I, Benoit Charles Joseph, the third son born to Camille andMajella Doucette on October 26, 1961, received my education atStobart Elementary and High School, Duck Lake, Sask., graduating inJune of 1979.After graduation from school I landed a job with the CodvilleCompany in Saskatoon where I have been employed for the pastseventeen years. I worked my way up through the ranks, starting asa labourer on the floor then assistant manager of the Cash and CarryWholesale Depot for five years and now have an office job in theProduce Office.On May 16, 1981 I married my high school sweetheart, CarmenePiche. We have been together for twenty years, celebrating ourfifteenth anniversary in May of 1996. After we were married in Maywe moved to Saskatoon to start our family life together. We livedin an apartment for a few months and realized that it was not forus, so we rented a small house that we came to call home. However,it soon became too small with the upcoming birth of our secondchild, Laura Dawn. At this time we were living in a duplex andopportunity knocked for us to rent an acreage and we moved again.Life out at the acreage was great. Kimberly DoucetteWith three active children and full time jobs our life neverhas a dull moment. Carmene is a journeyman cook, working atstensrud Lodge Nursing Home full time. We are very involved insports and the children's activities at school. Rae, our oldest,has a part-time job in which she is saving to go on a South Pacifictour in December 1996. She is in grade ten at E.D. Feehan HighSchool, remaining in the French Core Studies. She also playscompetitive ball and basketball when time permits. Her main goalright now is awaiting the date for departure for Australia. Oursecond child, Laura, in is grade seven at st. Gerard FrenchImmersion School. She is involved in competitive ball, ringette anctrack. Sports playa major role in her life and she is very good a1it. Kimberly, our youngest, is in grade two at st. Gerard as well.She is in swimming and plays ball. I curl and Carmene playsringette. We have been involved in coaching our children since the)have been old enough to play sports. In our spare time we have ahobby of refinishing antique furniture, a hobby that has become apart time job. We love to do woodwork, I guess you could say "achip off the old block"! We also like doing yard work and gocamping and fishing when time permits. We are very busy and arevery proud of the accomplishments of our children, in the Frenchstudies, in sports and the chapters of our family life that we havebeen through in the past twenty years.r;04
