We spoke to several people regarding car safety andleaving belongings in their cars, hidden under coats, seats and in the boot.Car crime in rural car parks is a serious concern, particularly as the weatherimproves. Opportunist thieves are always on the look out, scouring car parks fortheir mark. Not only is it upsetting if you are targeted, but extremely inconvenient, expensive and one that could so easily be avoided. So my message is this: PLEASE do not take valuables with you on dog walks, and ifyou do, put them in your pockets, or in a rucksack and take with you. Do not leavethem in the car. Do not think that it is a clever plan to leave valuables concealed inthe boot. Thieves are fully aware of the hiding places, that is their job, and my job ispreventing it.
