Members of the BandTony “Butch” GeraceButch, the leader and founding member of <strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong>, started his career performingin front of live audiences at age 5 in his hometown of Haverstraw, New York. At12 he was recording with Mitch Miller. In 1966, as a member of the world famousMGM recording group Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, Butch enjoyed the successthat comes with a # 1 record — Li’l Red Riding Hood. And of course, everyone knowsWooly Bully. In 1969 Butch formed a Las Vegas-type show band called Lemon Treeand played upscale show lounges in major cities all across the country. In 1977 thisgroup was transformed into The Meco Cantina Band of Star Wars fame, sending Butchon his second world tour with the # 1 hit recording of the disco version of the Themefrom Star Wars. After touring for 13 years, Butch settled in Venice, Florida in 1978,where met and married Shannon Davidson, his wife of 26 years. After their 4 childrenwere raised, he was ready to return to music and decided to form <strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong>.Check out the “…in the Beginning” page for more about Butch’s early days.Tony “Butch” GeraceLead Vocals/Front manBilly “Del-Ray” SmithDel-Ray started playing music in Buffalo, New York, in 1962. His first gig was in aband called The Kahns. In 1967 he joined the U.S. Navy and, while in the service,continued to play music in many European countries including Greece, Spain, andItaly. Del confesses he did some moonlighting in bars around Charleston, SouthCarolina, in the early 70’s, but wore a wig to disguise himself. In 1972, Del-Raymoved on to the L.A. scene playing in country rock bands. He had his eye on aband named Poco, but received a call from Buffalo, New York to play at the popularLone Star Café, with Bo Didley. He also played with Tommy Walsh (America),Lawrence Taylor and Ritchie Havens of Woodstock fame. Growing tired of the localscene, he took a road gig with Bo Didley and traveled the United States and Canadafor several years. In 1989 Del-Ray moved to Englewood, Florida, and became anoriginal founding member of <strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong>.Steven ShowerBorn in Madison, Wisconsin on August 27, 1950, Steven started playing piano atage 6. He took classical piano lessons for 8 years, during which time he playedtrombone in his junior high and high school bands, gaining a wealth of musicalknowledge which carries through to present day. Steven’s keyboard technique israre, ranging from beautiful classical melodies to raunchy honky tonk piano,demonstrating musical abilities that can only be acquired through years of playing.After earning a degree in the Arts at the University of Wisconsin, he spent almost 8years on the road paying his dues, playing with a band called Stone Hinge. Aftermoving to Venice, Florida in 1978, Steven joined <strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong> in 1992 and, sincethen has played hundreds of gigs all over the state — from Miami to Jacksonvilleand back again.Billy “Del-Ray” SmithBass/Vocals…continued on next pageSteve ShowerKeyboard/Vocals


Members of the BandDave MurabitoAs a young teenager growing up in Oswego, New York, David discovered a burningdesire to learn to play music. His formal training began in percussion playing drumsin his high school band. By the time he was 15 years old he was playing rock musicin clubs and at parties as well as performing Big Band music with an area orchestra.He got his first taste of playing with real professionals when he was asked to performas a back-up musician for The Ink Spots. In the mid-70’s he toured the Northeastwith a group called Brandywine, playing mostly dance clubs and ultimatelyopening for Gloria Gaynor. For 2 years he traveled with Trademark, a top showband, performing in some of the country’s finest showrooms like The Detroit Plazain Detroit, The Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta and The Corn Palace in Mitchell, SouthDakota playing everything from country to Broadway! Dave played in Montgomery,Alabama in a 20-piece band before a move to New Orleans in 2002, working inthe blues and cajun clubs along Beale Street. After moving to Florida in 2004,Dave recently joined <strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong> as a full-time member.Dave MurabitoDrums/VocalsTodd RogersBorn in Wisconsin, Todd Rogers moved to Venice in 1971. Inspired by LynyrdSkynyrd’s “Street Survivors” album, he started playing guitar in 1975. Mostly selftaught using a turn-table and listening to albums by legendary bands featuring hisfavorite guitar players — Lynyrd Skynyrd, Santana, Led Zeppelin and Stevie RayVaughn, to name a few — helped Todd create a style that ranges from classic rockto blues to country. His first real band, 90 Proof, played all through high schooland eventually started playing in bars, with The Englewood Bowl as their first gig.In the 80’s he met Steve Shower and has had several band projects with him overthe years, including a short stint with <strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong> in the early 90’s. Todd marriedLaura in 1993 and they have two children, now 7 and 9. He has also played witha popular Port Charlotte country rock band, Boothill, opening for national actsat County Fairs and the Punta Gorda Block Parties. Now Todd has rejoined<strong><strong>BAND</strong>ANA</strong>, sharing the goal of bringing some new tunes — along with someoriginal music — to their loyal fans.Todd RogersGuitar/Vocals


…in the BeginningButch Gerace started his career performing in front of live audiences at age 5 in his hometownof Haverstraw, New York, where he attended vocal training classes at Startime Studioswhile making weekly appearances on the Horn & Hardart’s Children’s Hour, a New York Citytelevision show. There he sang, danced and acted in skits with other young entertainers onlive TV and doors started to open.At age 12, Butch joined Mitch Miller’s Sandpiper Boys chorus, which released Boy Scoutrecordings in the mid 1950’s. In the early 60’s, he recorded a single pop ballad for FleetwoodRecords in New York, which received local airplay. During his latter teenage years, Butchformed a band called Tony Gee & the Gypsys. Performing at the world famous MetropoleCafé in Times Square, New York City for 18 months, along with other hot night spots like ThePeppermint Lounge and Trudy Heller’s in Greenwich Village, this band was discovered byLeonard Stogal & Associates, business manager of Sam the Sham, and was transformed intoThe Pharaohs. They went on to record “Li’l Red Riding Hood” for MGM records in 1966, arecording that soared to #1 in the world for most of the summer of 1966.
