' 3885New machine tools ............... ................... 26 30Total...................................... ........... $ 3,303 67In addition to the above the following additionshave been made which are to be paid for during theyear 1902:Three thousand feet of fire hose $2,100.00, cost ofstorage battery balance $1,200.00 to be paid in threeequal payments of $400.00 per annum, with interest,and $900.00 for four horses now on trial.Pire Marshal-On March 6th, his Honor the Mayor appointedSenior Foreman George Mouro as Fire Marshal. Inaddition to the duties incident to that office theMayor directs that the Fire Marshal inspect all buildingsin the course of construction and while undergoingrepairs, reporting daily to the Superintendentof the fire department.This appointment was duly confirmed by Council.Mr. Mouro who is Senior Foreman of the fire departmentand Fire Marshal is vested with the fullauthority conferred upon the office of Fire Marshal,This appointment has had the effect of more evenlydistributing the important branches of our work andallows me more time for attention to the minor detailsof the fire department proper. The work of investigationof causes of fires and the inspection ofbuildings has been attended to with precision andaccuracy and the results are noticeable by the way inwhich the building laws are being observed.For a detailed report of the work done by the FireMarshal I respectfully refer you to the accompanyingreport of that officer.
