86 MAYOR'S ANNUA*L REPORT.Fire Alarm.On May 21st, a new system of batteries known asthe Chloride Accumulator, manufactured by theElectric Storage Battery Company, was installed atthe Central Station by the Electric Supply Companyof this city. The switch board accompanying thisbattery is the Grouse-Hinds patent and is an excellentpiece of workmanship; everything in connectionwith the installation was neatly done and when itwas connected up to our repeater and boxes, it wasimmediately accepted. Since that time the fire alarms\rstem has notably increased in accuracy and reliability.During the past year the poles of this system werepainted and two new street boxes were added.For a more detailed report I beg to refer you tothe accompanying report of the Superintendent FireAlarm Telegraph.
