Upon the considerationand adoption of said statement and assessmentroll by the council of the city of Savannah, it shallthen become the duty of the City Treasurer to sendto the abutting property owners their proper bill forthe same, as it may be ascertained by the City Council,and if such bill so sent be not paid within thirty(30) days after the presentation or sending of thesame, it shall then become the duty of the CityTreasurer to issue an execution for the amount, togetherwith costs, against the persons and propertyaforesaid, which execution shall be made and leviedout of the property described therein, as are executionsfor city taxes.Sec. 4. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermenof the city of Savannah, in Council assembled,under the terms and provisions of an act ofthe Legislature of Georgia, approved Oct. 1, 1887,That the Director of Public Works for the city ofSavannah and the Committee on Streets and Lanesof the said city be, and they are hereby, authorizedand directed to pave with vitrified brick Jones street(sometimes called Little Jones street), in the city of
364 MAYOR'S ANNUAL REPORT.Savannah, from the west side of Tattnall street tothe east side of Jefferson street; the width betweenthe curbs on the said street to be improved to bethirty-two (32) feet. The said Director and Committeeare directed to lay the curbs and do all thework in the way of grading, the placing of catchbasins, drains, crossings, and all other things incidentto the construction and completion of the saidroadway on the said portion of Jones street.Sec. 2. Be it further ordained, That after the totalcost of the said work shall have been ascertained,one-third of such total cost shall be paid out of thecity treasury and the other two-thirds from the personsowning, at the date of the adoption of this ordinance,the real estate abutting on said Jones streetto be improved under this ordinance, according tofrontage, and the pro rata amount of the cost of suchwork is hereby assessed against said abutting realestate and its owners, as aforesaid, according to frontage.Sec. 3. Be it further ordained, That after the improvementhereinbefore provided for has been completed,the said director and the said committee shallprepare and submit to the council of the city ofSavannah a statement showing the cost of the improvementherein provided for, and also an assessmentroll showing as to two-thirds of the cost; howit is apportioned among the several abutting parcelsand giving the sum chargeable to each parcel, withthe name of the owner. Upon the consideration andadoption of said statement and assessment roll by thecouncil of the city, it shall then become the duty ofthe City Treasurer to send to the abutting property
