Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermenof the city of Savannah, in Council assembled,That the Health Officer of the city of Savannah,under the direction and control of the Board of SanitaryCommissioners for the said city, be and he ishereby authorized to placard infected houses in casesof infectious and contagious diseases found in saidhouses, whether the same be located in the corporatelimits of the city of Savannah or within two miles ofthe said corporate limits.Sec. 2. Be it farther ordained, That all ordinancesand parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinanceare hereby repealed.Ordinance passed December 11, 1901.STREETS AND LANES.An ordinance for the improvement of a portion ofWest Broad street, under the terms and provisions•of an act of the Legislature of Georgia approved Oct.1,1887.Section 1. Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermenof the city of Savannah, in council assembled,under the terms and provisions of an act of the Legislatureof Georgia approved Oct. 1, 1887, That the
328 MAYOR'S ANNUAL REPORT.director of public works for the city of Savannah andthe committee on streets and lanes of the said citybe, and they are hereby, authorized and directed tobuild and construct on West Broad street, in the cityof Savannah, beginning at the north side of Stonestreet and extending to the north side of Gwinnettstreet, a roadway of sixty-six (66) feet in width ofvitrified brick, and they are also authorized and directedto inclose the said roadwav*jwith stone curbingsand to do all the work in the way of grading,the placing of catch basins, drains, crossings, and allother things incident to the construction and completionof the said roadway on the said portion ofWest Broad street.Sec. 2. Be it further ordained, That a railroadcompany having tracks running through the saidportion of West Broad street to be improved underthis ordinance is hereby required to pave the widthof its tracks and two (2) feet on each side of everyline of tracks of the said railroad company with vitrifiedbrick as the said work progresses, and, in theevent this is not done by the said company, the saiddirector of public works and the said committee shallsee to its being done at the expense of the said railroadcompany.Sec. 3. Be it further ordained, That after the totalcost of the said work, exclusive of that done by or fora railroad company, shall have been ascertained, onethirdof such total cost shall be paid out of the CityTreasury and the other two-thirds from the personsowning at the date of the adoption of this ordinancethe real estate abutting on said portion of West Broadstreet to be improved under this ordinance, according
