Rapid population increase and unPlanneddevelopment has led to pollution of water by residential/ agricultural/commercial/ industrial waste and effluents. Hence there is an urgent needfor restoration of water bodies in Chennai. An outlay of Rs.0.1 crore havebeen provided during the Plan period for restoration of Palkeni lake atPallavaram in Chennai.281
