Therefore, it is not possible to ascerta<strong>in</strong> causal effects of the changes, <strong>and</strong> whether changes <strong>in</strong>knowledge, attitudes, <strong>and</strong> behaviors are associated with the level of effort <strong>and</strong> coverage of the program.Moreover, the study does not exam<strong>in</strong>e the association between knowledge <strong>and</strong> behavior (i.e., anassociation between the <strong>in</strong>crease observed <strong>in</strong> the level of <strong>HIV</strong>-related knowledge <strong>and</strong> the <strong>in</strong>creaseobserved <strong>in</strong> the level of <strong>HIV</strong>-related behaviors). F<strong>in</strong>ally, this analysis is based on reported <strong>in</strong>formation onsexual behavior. The results may be biased to the extent of misreported sexual behaviors (Mensch et al.2003). In a given social context, the extent of such misreport<strong>in</strong>g could vary by sex, educational level,economic status, <strong>and</strong> area of residence (Hewett et al. 2004).24
