Sexual Behaviors of YouthTable 3.3 present changes <strong>in</strong> <strong>HIV</strong>-related behavior <strong>in</strong>dicators among young women <strong>and</strong> men (age15-24). The data show no significant change <strong>in</strong> the proportion of youth who had sex before age 15 (Figure3.5). The proportion of never-married women age 15–24 who reported hav<strong>in</strong>g had sex was slightly higher<strong>in</strong> 2010 than 2005 (17 percent vs. 14 percent), particularly among women liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> rural areas (16 percentvs. 12 percent) <strong>and</strong> among women age 20-24 (28 percent vs. 23 percent). However, the proportion ofnever-married men age 15-24 who had sex did not significantly change between the two surveys.Table 3.3 also presents the percentage of never-married women <strong>and</strong> men age 15–24 who neverhad sex (primary abst<strong>in</strong>ence), <strong>and</strong> the percentage who ever had sex but not <strong>in</strong> the last 12 months(secondary abst<strong>in</strong>ence). The proportion of young women report<strong>in</strong>g primary abst<strong>in</strong>ence decl<strong>in</strong>ed slightlyamong women liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> urban areas (from 66 to 62 percent) <strong>and</strong> among women age 15-19 (from 88 to 85percent). However, no significant change was observed among women liv<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> rural areas, among olderwomen age 20-24, or among men.15
