Prostorska kultura je rezultanta ravnanja s<strong>prostor</strong>om, odnosov v <strong>prostor</strong>u, pretekle <strong>in</strong>današnje politike, <strong>za</strong>konodaje <strong>in</strong> prakse. Zastanje v <strong>prostor</strong>u je vsakodnevna praksauporabnikov tako pomembna, da več<strong>in</strong>amodernih priporočil <strong>za</strong> dobro <strong>prostor</strong>sko praksogradi na vključevanju uporabnikov v procesenačrtovanja, od oblikovanja idejnih <strong>za</strong>snov doizvedbe, prenove <strong>in</strong> vzdrževanja (Tibbalds,1992).Doka<strong>za</strong>no je, da možnosti, ki se odpirajo obneposrednem sodelovanju, v več ozirihpozitivno vplivajo na kakovost procesovnačrtovanja, upravljanja <strong>in</strong> rabe <strong>prostor</strong>a. V šolahpo Evropi, Združenih državah Amerike <strong>in</strong> drugihrazvitejših delih sveta je seznanjanje s praviliurejanja <strong>prostor</strong>a, arhitekturo, urbanizmom,kulturno dedišč<strong>in</strong>o <strong>in</strong> naravnimi vrednotami delsplošnih obveznih izobraževalnih programov.V Sloveniji v <strong>za</strong>dnjem desetletju sledimopovečanemu <strong>za</strong>nimanju javnosti <strong>za</strong> posege v<strong>prostor</strong> <strong>in</strong> tudi različnim pri<strong>za</strong>devanjemm<strong>in</strong>istrstva <strong>za</strong> okolje <strong>in</strong> <strong>prostor</strong>, posameznihpodročij <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>vestitorjev <strong>za</strong> dodatno izobraževanje<strong>in</strong> boljšo <strong>in</strong>formiranost javnosti oposameznih posegih, vrednotah <strong>in</strong> ukrepih.Očitno je, da je <strong>in</strong>teres <strong>za</strong> boljše razumevanjeveč<strong>in</strong>e vključenih v odločanje, kot tudispremembam izpostavljenih, precejšen.Razmere <strong>za</strong> sistematično izobraževanje ourejanju <strong>prostor</strong>a so v tem smislu dozorele(Simoneti, 2004). Projekt R.A.V.E. Space takoizvajamo v okolišč<strong>in</strong>ah, ki so premisleku oizobraževanju naklonjene.ceive as idealistic, are a result of respect<strong>in</strong>g andunderstand<strong>in</strong>g some basic rules for the use ofthe physical space, set by the society. A generalspatial culture of a nation is therefore a comb<strong>in</strong>ationof several factors – the attitude towardsthe physical space, the past and present spatialpolicies, the legal background and the quality ofpractical work. The way we use space <strong>in</strong> the everydaylife is of such importance, that most modernrecommended actions for manag<strong>in</strong>g spaceare based on <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g users <strong>in</strong> the process ofplann<strong>in</strong>g, from the first conceptual ideas to theimplementation, regeneration and ma<strong>in</strong>tenance(Tibbalds, 1992).In the past it has been proven through practice,that participation directly positively <strong>in</strong>fluencesthe quality of plann<strong>in</strong>g processes, manag<strong>in</strong>g andus<strong>in</strong>g space <strong>in</strong> many aspects. Many schoolsthroughout Europe and United States have already<strong>in</strong>troduced the issues deal<strong>in</strong>g with manag<strong>in</strong>gphysical space, architecture, urbanism, culturalheritage and values of nature <strong>in</strong>to mandatoryeducational programmes. In Slovenia, an<strong>in</strong>crease <strong>in</strong> public <strong>in</strong>terest concern<strong>in</strong>g spatial <strong>in</strong>terventionsand developmental measures hasbeen noticed <strong>in</strong> the last decade. Evidently thereis an exist<strong>in</strong>g general public <strong>in</strong>terest to be <strong>in</strong>volvedand properly <strong>in</strong>formed about the projects<strong>in</strong> progress as well as <strong>in</strong>fluenc<strong>in</strong>g the changesmade <strong>in</strong> the exist<strong>in</strong>g spatial forms. The need fora systematic educational plan about manag<strong>in</strong>gthe physical space is present (Simoneti, 2004)and R.A.V.E. Space project is be<strong>in</strong>g implemented<strong>in</strong> the current circumstances, that support itsideas.297Delavnica 4 / Workshop 4Izobraževanje <strong>za</strong> trajnostni razvojPravkar teče tudi program izobraževanja <strong>za</strong>trajnostni razvoj pod okriljem organi<strong>za</strong>cijezdruženih narodov Unesco (United Nations…,2005: resolution 57/254), ki prihaja kotnaročen <strong>za</strong> vse, ki sodelujemo v procesihurejanja <strong>prostor</strong>a. Cilj vseh pri<strong>za</strong>devanj je, da seljudje <strong>za</strong>vemo omejenosti razvojnih virov,pomena usklajevanja različnih <strong>in</strong>teresov <strong>in</strong> seodločimo <strong>za</strong> podrejanje posameznih teženjskupnim ciljem ter nena<strong>za</strong>dnje, da se odrečemotistim posegom, dobr<strong>in</strong>am <strong>in</strong> praksam, ki nevzdržijo trajnostne presoje. Razvoj <strong>in</strong> napredeksta v največji meri odvisna od izobraževanjasvetovnega prebivalstva, ki naj postane»pismeno« tudi v odnosu do <strong>prostor</strong>a <strong>in</strong> okolja.Naloga je najtežja, pravijo odgovorni, <strong>za</strong> najboljrazvite.Education for susta<strong>in</strong>able developmentThere is another susta<strong>in</strong>able development educationscheme <strong>in</strong> progress, <strong>in</strong>itiated by UnitedNations (United Nations…, 2005: resolution 57/254), that is warmly welcomed by all professionalsdeal<strong>in</strong>g with the physical space. The overallgoal of Decade of education for Susta<strong>in</strong>ableDevelopement is to make the vast majority ofpeople aware of how limited developmentalsources really are and how important it is to f<strong>in</strong>dbalanced compromises between <strong>in</strong>dividual <strong>in</strong>terestsand the general goals of the whole society.That usually means giv<strong>in</strong>g up the plans, sourcesand exist<strong>in</strong>g praxes, which do not comply withthe pr<strong>in</strong>ciples for susta<strong>in</strong>able development. Developmentand progress <strong>in</strong> general therefore directlydepend on the awareness of the global
