It cando this in different ways; for example by presentingand explaining particular places, localitiesand territories to the people that liveor work in them or visit them. It can also bedone through exhibitions on particular aspectsof places, landscapes and gardens.– The GARLAND Online website. In additionto having information about GARLAND andits activities, the aim of the website is to providereliable and high quality information thatwill help people, in both a personal and a professionalcapacity, to understand the landscape,garden and topographical heritage,and to enjoy it and care for it. With this inmind, GARLAND proposes to have a glossaryand encyclopaedia as part of its website.– The GARLAND Research and PublicationsProgramme. Through this service GAR-LAND will initiate, undertake and commissionresearch projects, the collection of information,and the production of publicationson relevant topics. A current priority is thepreparation of ‘The GARLAND Guidelines’ onsustaining the topographical, landscape,park and garden heritage. The online glossaryand encyclopaedia is also part of thisprogramme.– The GARLAND Association. The functionof the Association is to provide a mechanismthrough which communication, liaison andcoordination can take place between GAR-LAND, its branches and others who workwith it or support it in one way or another.GARLAND is a not-for-profit company, registeredin the UK, and an intending charity.It welcomes opportunities to work together withothers organisations and individuals, and it operateson a UK, a European and a fully internationalbasis.
