GARLAND ponuja dodatno izobraževanje spomočjo šestih medsebojno pove<strong>za</strong>nihspodbud <strong>in</strong> programov, ki jim pripadajo. GAR-LAND je mlada organi<strong>za</strong>cija <strong>in</strong> te spodbudegradimo na osnovi faz, kot dovoljujejo viri <strong>in</strong>priložnosti. Na kratko so spodbude naslednje:– Izobraževalna služba. Za njo imamo dveglavni obč<strong>in</strong>stvi, namreč strokovni sektor <strong>in</strong>akademski. Strokovni sektor sestavljajo tisti,ki želijo razviti svoje razumevanje,sposobnosti <strong>in</strong> vešč<strong>in</strong>e iz strokovnegastališča. Nekateri se že aktivno ukvarjajo skraj<strong>in</strong>o, vrtovi <strong>in</strong> topografsko dedišč<strong>in</strong>o, drugise želijo z njo ukvarjati ali pa želijo več vedetio tej temi, ker le-ta je ali bo postala delnjihove odgovornosti. Služba GARLAND-anudi dodatno izobraževanje tudi na sred<strong>in</strong>iposameznikove kariere v obliki nadaljnjegastrokovnega razvoja. Kar se tiče akademskegasektorja, GARLAND spodbuja razvoj<strong>za</strong>devnega področja tako na dodiplomski kotna podiplomski ravni s pomočjo vodenihtečajev <strong>in</strong> raziskovanj.– Svetovalna služba. Njen cilj je priskrbeti<strong>za</strong>nesljive <strong>in</strong> kakovostne podatke ter nasvete,ki izpolnjujejo potrebe posameznih krajev <strong>in</strong>posebnih okolišč<strong>in</strong>.– »Topografikon«. Namen te spodbude <strong>in</strong>službe je povečati <strong>in</strong> razviti <strong>za</strong>vedanje <strong>in</strong>uživanje javnosti v topografski dedišč<strong>in</strong>i, to jededišč<strong>in</strong>i, ki je pove<strong>za</strong>na z različnimi <strong>prostor</strong>i.To lahko stori na različne nač<strong>in</strong>e, na primers predstavitvijo <strong>in</strong> obrazložitvijo določenihkrajev, <strong>prostor</strong>ov <strong>in</strong> ozemelj ljudem, ki tamživijo <strong>in</strong> delajo ali jih obiskujejo. Prav takoslužijo temu razstave o posebnih vidikihkrajev, kraj<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong> vrtov.– Spletna stran GARLAND-a. Poleg podajanja<strong>in</strong>formacij o GARLAND-u <strong>in</strong> njegovihdejavnostih je namen spletne strani nuditi<strong>za</strong>nesljive <strong>in</strong> kakovostne <strong>in</strong>formacije, ki bodoljudem tako v <strong>za</strong>sebnem kot profesionalnemživljenju pomagale razumeti kraj<strong>in</strong>o, vrt <strong>in</strong>topografsko dedišč<strong>in</strong>o, da bodo v njej znaliuživati <strong>in</strong> <strong>za</strong>njo skrbeti. Tako GARLANDpredlaga, da bi del njegove spletne strani<strong>za</strong>vzemala tudi glosar <strong>in</strong> enciklopedija.– Program raziskav <strong>in</strong> publikacij GARLANDa.S pomočjo te službe bo GARLAND <strong>za</strong>čel,izvajal <strong>in</strong> naročal raziskovalne projekte,zbiranje <strong>in</strong>formacij <strong>in</strong> izdelovanje publikacijna določene teme. Trenutna prednostnanaloga je priprava ‘Smernic GARLAND’ oohranitvi topografske, kraj<strong>in</strong>ske, parkovne <strong>in</strong>vrtne dedišč<strong>in</strong>e. Spletni glosar <strong>in</strong> enciklopedijasta prav tako del tega programa.tion’ that has advisory work as a key element.Supplementary Education is any form ofeducation, tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g and awareness rais<strong>in</strong>g thatsupplements, consolidates and develops what islearnt through the formal educational curriculaat schools, colleges and universities. It aims tohelp people to develop their understand<strong>in</strong>g, abilitiesand skills, and it can do this at any po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>in</strong>their life. It relies pr<strong>in</strong>cipally on provid<strong>in</strong>g relativelyshort or specific <strong>in</strong>dividual <strong>in</strong>puts. Thesemay take the form of: advisory work, personaltuition, presentations, lectures, sem<strong>in</strong>ars, workshops,short courses, conferences, events, displays,exhibitions, guided visits and tours, writtencomments and reports, traditional and electronicpublication, site <strong>in</strong>terpretation, etc. Themethods can be used <strong>in</strong>dividually or <strong>in</strong> comb<strong>in</strong>ation,and they can be selected to suit the requirementsof different audiences and circumstances.In all cases special attention is paid tothe particular needs of the client and the audience.GARLAND provides Supplementary Educationby means of six ma<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>terrelated <strong>in</strong>itiativesand their associated programmes. GARLAND isa young organisation and these <strong>in</strong>itiatives arebe<strong>in</strong>g built up on a phased basis as resourcesand opportunities allow. Briefly, the six <strong>in</strong>itiativesare as follows:– An Education Service. There are two ma<strong>in</strong>audiences for this, namely the professionalsector and the academic. The professionalsector consists of those who wish to developtheir understand<strong>in</strong>g, abilities and skillsfrom a professional po<strong>in</strong>t of view. They mayalready be actively <strong>in</strong>volved with landscapes,gardens and the topographical heritage; theymay wish to become <strong>in</strong>volved; or they maywish to know more about them because theyare, or they will become, a part of their responsibilities.GARLAND’s service can provideSupplementary Education at Mid-Careerlevel and <strong>in</strong> the context of Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g ProfessionalDevelopment (CPD). With regard tothe academic sector, GARLAND is keen topromote the development of its subject areaat both undergraduate and postgraduate levels,through taught courses and research.– An Advisory Service. This aims to deliverreliable and high quality <strong>in</strong>formation and adviceto meet the needs of <strong>in</strong>dividual placesand particular circumstances.– »Topographicon«.
