The elements, contents and characteristics thatare the principal objects of conservation are:– uniformity and connectedness of the space,and of the other cultural, historical and socialcontents that society recognises as specialvalues,– characteristics and peculiarities of the morphologicalstructure,– manner of connection of the cultural landscapeto architectural heritage and settlementheritage,– traditional settlement patterns, fundamentalcharacteristics of the parcel structure andspatial relations,– historical directions in the space.In view of the demanding and integrated natureof the issues involved, conceptions of landscapedevelopment and conservation or landscapedesigns (as per Article 60 of the Spatial PlanningAct) would need to be prepared for these areas,within the framework of which, on the basis ofdata and heritage value assessments and otherdata important for the specific area in question,analyses of the situation and development possibilitiescan be drawn up, landscape elementsin need of particular conservation identified andfocuses for subsequent spatial developmentdefined. An interdisciplinary approach is necessaryto ensure that the protection and developmentof cultural heritage is more widely includedin development programmes. It is apparent that,given the lack of direct financial incentives, theconservation of cultural heritage landscapes ismost effective via the system of spatial regulation,in other words by addressing problematicspatial situations with spatial planning methods.233Delavnica 3 / Workshop 3Viri1.
