Spatialdevelopment strategies and spatial orders planthe use of suburban, urban and countryside areas.Forestry plans meanwhile def<strong>in</strong>e the economic,social and biotic function of forestedlandscapes <strong>in</strong> their adm<strong>in</strong>istrative parts, whilethe usage of forests themselves is already <strong>in</strong>cluded<strong>in</strong> spatial plans.Our current experiences have shown that all theplans take <strong>in</strong>to consideration the relevant aspectsof environmental goals and that landscapeis treated as a special chapter <strong>in</strong> the majorityof environmental reports.163Delavnica 2 / Workshop 210. ConclusionBased on examples of <strong>in</strong>tegral assessments carriedout <strong>in</strong> Slovenia, we can say that this horizontal<strong>in</strong>strument is important for <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g landscape<strong>in</strong>to decision-mak<strong>in</strong>g process.We have to stress some of the most importantpr<strong>in</strong>ciples that form the basis of <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g thelandscape <strong>in</strong>to plans and programmes whencarry<strong>in</strong>g out <strong>in</strong>tegral environmental impact assessment:10. 1. The pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of <strong>in</strong>tegral approach– environmental aspects have to be draftedand <strong>in</strong>cluded <strong>in</strong>to the plan and the environmentalreport as soon as the plan’s draft<strong>in</strong>gis commenced;– experts have to be actively <strong>in</strong>volved and br<strong>in</strong>gsuch a level of practical knowledge <strong>in</strong>to thearea of education that <strong>in</strong>clusion <strong>in</strong> processesis possible;10. 2. The pr<strong>in</strong>ciple of coexistence and mutualconsideration– experts are proficient at the methods of <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>gthe public and are at the same time
