Hotelske verigeNa določenih otokih velikost hotelskih verig (Sv.Nikola – 460 postelj; Sv. Katarina – 320 posteljv 120 namestitvenih enotah; Crveni otok/povezana otoka Andrija in Maškin – 969 posteljv 411 namestitvenih enotah) predstavlja celotnosprejemno zmožnost teh otokov na ravni»masovnega turizma«, kar pušča zelo maloprostora za rekreacijske enodnevne izlete.Brijuni national parkAlthough the Brijuni national park, due to its speciallegal status, possesses specific inner structure,it actually represents the most valuable partof the »Istrian Necklace«. Its inner structure, inprinciple, does not stand apart from the overallstructure of the Istrian islands. The Island ofVeliki Brijun provides accommodation capacities(456 beds in 238 accommodation units), as wellas sightseeing and daytime programmes. Notassociated with tourism, the island also providesaccommodation to the military and the stateprotocol. The main tourist attraction of MaliBrijun Island is its system of fortifications that isout of use, that of Vanga Island are its memorialbuildings, while the other islands may be consideredwild. Many studies and spatial plans have been producedfor the area of the national park, especiallyregarding accommodation capacities, meaning accommodation in permanent buildingsand marinas. The receiving-capacity analysisof Brijun, within national park standards, suggeststhat if the hotel tradition were to continuein the Brijun Island, it would be able to accommodateno more than 800 guests, while marinaswould be out of the question.Wild islandsThis group includes all the islands covered invegetation, as well as sheer rocks with no constructedmooring facilities. This »wild one third«of the islands constitutes an environmentalstronghold, contributes to the vibrancy of theisland scenery, while the islands themselves areattractive to tourists for sailing around and sightseeing, swimming, or day tripping. Valuable archaeologicaland palaeontological findings arelocated on some of the islands.Specific agricultureTo this day, specific agriculture has survived onlyon Fenera Island, where the sight cow herds intriguesthe tourists.Lighthouse islandsThe lighthouses on certain islands represent anexceptional visual experience for nautical tourists. They are structures of architectural heritage, and visits may eventually be organised, althoughin a manner not disturbing their basic function.
