1.2.3 In 2008, the Environmental Risk Management Authority (‗the Authority‘) consideredwhether or not there were grounds for reassessing the approvals for dichlorvos andformulations containing dichlorvos, under section 62 of the Act.1.2.4 The Authority decided that there were grounds for reassessment of dichlorvos and itsformulations, based on sections 62 of the Act, namely that: there is new informationfrom overseas regulatory authorities relating to the effects of dichlorvos and itsformulations and that, in light of this new information, reassessment of the substanceis warranted.1.2.5 The Authority considered that a reassessment of dichlorvos and its formulationsaligns well with ERMA New Zealand‘s risk reduction strategy, which seeks toreduce the risks New Zealanders may be exposed to via new organisms or hazardoussubstances.1.2.6 The decision that grounds for the reassessment of dichlorvos and its formulations hadbeen established was notified on 04 September 2008. In reaching its decision theAuthority noted the following:Formulations containing dichlorvos have been registered for use in NewZealand since 1968.
