St. Agnes Catholic Community1025 Masonic Ave. San Francisco, CA 94117 www.SaintAgnesSF.com 415.487.8560InclusiveDiverseJesuitDecember 14 & 15, 2013Dear Friends,Liturgy ScheduleSunday: 8:30am Saturday Vigil: 4:00pm10:30am Weekdays: 8:30am6:00pm Holy Days: 8:30am & 5:30pmMission StatementWe the people of Saint Agnes are:an inclusive urban community, rich in diversity of age, ethnicity, gender, orientation, culture, talent, & treasure;a faith community, enlivened and empowered throughBaptism to celebrate and proclaimthe presence of Christ among us.We declare to one and allthat we commit ourselves to:grow spiritually as disciples of Christto become men and women for othersbuild community through hospitality, ecumenism and social & cultural eventsunderstand cultural differences andaccept them as sources of enrichmentgive loving service & outreach to those in needpromote social justice issues in our neighborhood andin the larger communityof city, nation, and world. In October, 2014, an Extraordinary Synod on Marriage andFamily will take place in Rome. A questionnaire was sent toall dioceses in the world requesting data for the Synod’sdeliberations on how to better minster to the People of God.What is so unusual about this church meeting is thatparticipation on the part of the laity was strongly requested. In fact, the Catholic Church in England made thequestionnaire available to all on the internet. In the UnitedStates the Ordinary of each diocese was asked to circulatethe questionnaire in whatever manner circumstancesdictated. Archbishop Cordileone asked that pastors discussthe questionnaire with their parish staffs and councils. Ihave done so and will communicate the results of thosediscussions in future bulletin letters. At a meeting of the Jesuit parishes in the California andOregon provinces, it was decided that it would be good toknow what the people we minister to are thinking. A website (www.OrdinaryCatholics.com) has been set up thatcontains a condensed version of the Vatican’squestionnaire. Feel free to visit this site and answer thequestionnaire. Each of the parishes will be given a spreadsheet of their parishioner’s responses. This will also begiven to the Jesuit Conference to assist them in theirpreparation for the Synod. You may also visit the Vaticanwebsite to see the original questionnaire.(http://goo.gl/3vjzVZ) Pope Francis strongly encourages theparticipation of the laity. Hopefully, with the guidance of theHoly Spirit, we will better learn how to pastorally assist thePeople of God as they live out their marriage and familialcommitments. In the near future we will have a parish TownHall meeting to discuss these important issues. We pledge ourselvesto be a light in the darknessthrough the love that we sharein the name of Christand through the power and guidanceof the Holy Spirit.

Apostles CreedI believe in God, the Father almighty,Creator of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, Our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell;on the third day he rose again from the dead; And ascended into heaven,And is seated at the right hand of God,the Father almighty;from there he will come to judge theliving and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church;the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.Stewardship PrayerLord and source of all gifts, I rejoice in thefullness of your generosity. I thank you for thosewhose lives are visible signs of your love andblessing to others. Give me the courage to do thesame. Make me a good steward of all I havereceived generously sharing my time, abilitiesand material resources to build up your kingdomof love and justice. We ask this through JesusChrist, in whom we begin and end all things.Amen.Prayer of St. Francis(Prayer for Peace)Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;where there is hatred, let me sow love;where there is injury, pardon;where there is doubt, faith;where there is despair, hope;where there is darkness, light;and where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master, grant that I may not so muchseek to be consoled as to console;to be understood, as to understand;to be loved, as to love;for it is in giving that we receive,it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal LifeAmen.
