<strong>Lane</strong> <strong>Cove</strong> <strong>12ft</strong> <strong>Sailing</strong> <strong>Skiff</strong> <strong>Club</strong>selected in the Southern NSW State team tocompete at the Sabot Nationals at Southport overthe New Year.At the Sabot Nationals at Southport raced overthe New Year Freestyler, Miles Davey and ArchieSwadling, finished ninth overall followed byAndrea Davey and Jess Swadling in Synergywho finished tenth.Jack Kelly and Jack Moran in Maximum Force27, and at the <strong>Club</strong> Championship Christmasdinner hosted by the Juniors.The Christmas dinner was a particular highlightwith many parents assisting – the food was greatand we had many deserved compliments for awonderful effort. Thanks again to all involved.The Zone Championships at Vaucluse, where anumber of <strong>Lane</strong> <strong>Cove</strong> boats competed inchallenging conditions (e.g. 45ft yachts on the flysailing through the start line). Henry Larkings andEve Peel in Gone in 60 Seconds won the Sabot2 up on scratch and finished second on handicap.Jack Kelly did well in Maximum Force to come6th in the Sabot 1 ups on handicap.Over the season <strong>Lane</strong> <strong>Cove</strong> sailors also attendedthe Sabot NSW State Titles at Toronto and WangiRSL ASC (29-30 October + 12-13 November), theSabot Australian Titles at Southport YC (28December – 5 January), the Southern NSW SabotZone Championships at Vaucluse (17-18February) and the CHS Regatta at Belmont.We had good representation at these events.Results at these regattas were generally good, butparticular highlights were some good results for<strong>Lane</strong> <strong>Cove</strong> sailors in the State Championships. Inthe 2 ups Gone in 60 Seconds , Henry Larkingsand Eve Peel, came 2nd overall with Ad Power,Andrea Davey and Jess Swadling, fifth andFreestyler, Miles Davey and Archie Swadling,sixth. Ad Power came second on handicap. Allthree of the 2 up boats from <strong>Lane</strong> <strong>Cove</strong> wereAdam Swiderski in Took Ya Time showing the style that wonhim four trophy races.The annual CHS regatta was held in the first weekof the Easter school holidays. As usual, thecamping and sailing was good and plenty asmany <strong>Lane</strong> <strong>Cove</strong> sailors spent an enjoyable weekon the shores of Lake Macquarie.There were plenty of creditable performances byour junior sailors at all these events and it wasparticularly good to see the effort people made toget there and get their kids sailing.
