During glycolysis, C-1 <strong>and</strong> C-6 become equivalent at <strong>the</strong> levelof glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate, <strong>and</strong> C-1 <strong>and</strong> C-6 are thus released simultaneously (during passage ofacetate through <strong>the</strong> citric acid cycle).
