Competition<br />

The <strong>San</strong> Francisco Bay Area is also served by Metropolitan Oakl<strong>and</strong> International <strong>Airport</strong> <strong>and</strong> Norman Y.<br />

Mineta <strong>San</strong> Jose International <strong>Airport</strong>. During Fiscal Year 2008-09, the <strong>Airport</strong>’s passenger traffic (enplanements<br />

<strong>and</strong> deplanements) decreased by 232,025 (-0.6%), Oakl<strong>and</strong>’s decreased by 3,703,245 (-27.2%) <strong>and</strong> <strong>San</strong> Jose’s<br />

decreased by 1,559,373 (-15.0%) compared to Fiscal Year 2007-08. According to traffic reports released by the<br />

three Bay Area airports for Fiscal Year 2008-09, the <strong>Airport</strong> accounted for approximately 60.2% <strong>of</strong> total domestic<br />

passenger traffic <strong>and</strong> approximately 97.3% <strong>of</strong> total international passenger traffic. The combined total passenger<br />

traffic decrease at the three Bay Area airports during Fiscal Year 2008-09 was 5,494,643 (-9.0%) resulting in a<br />

market share increase for the <strong>Airport</strong> <strong>of</strong> 5.6 percentage points <strong>and</strong> a total market share for the <strong>Airport</strong> <strong>of</strong> 66.1% in<br />

Fiscal Year 2008-09 compared to 60.5% in Fiscal Year 2007-08.<br />
