REPORTING CRIMEThis brochure has been developed by <strong>Sutherland</strong><strong>Shire</strong> <strong>Council</strong> in conjunction with the NSW PoliceForce to provide you with clear and conciseinformation about how and when to report criminalactivity to <strong>Sutherland</strong> <strong>Shire</strong> <strong>Council</strong>, NSW Policeand other state government departments.


REPORTING CRIME TOTHE NSW POLICE FORCEAll criminal or suspected criminal behaviour and activitiesshould be reported to NSW Police. This can be doneanonymously. The information you provide helps police andcouncil identify hotspot locations and assists to preventcrimes from occurring in the first place.In an emergency, life threatening situation orwhen a crime is in progress – triple zero (000)By dialling Triple Zero (000), the police are able to respond tothe incident promptly. REPORTING GRAFFITI AND VANDALISMON PROPERTY NOT OWNED BY COUNCIL<strong>Council</strong> does not have the authority to remove graffiti or repairvandalism on property that does not belong to council. If younotice graffiti on property not owned by council, report itdirectly to the relevant organisation or property owner. Whenreporting a criminal incident to a state government departmentyou will need to provide the organisation with the streetaddress (including nearest cross street), type of vandalism,whether the nature of graffiti is offensive and, if appropriate,the asset number.
