7 The BlackoutA few of <strong>the</strong> stories that I am relat<strong>in</strong>g, especially <strong>the</strong> follow<strong>in</strong>g,might offend some of my readers. My hope is, by expos<strong>in</strong>g mymisdeeds and what lessons I have learned through God’s deal<strong>in</strong>gs,some might be spared from fall<strong>in</strong>g as <strong>the</strong>y learn from mymistakes. It is not my <strong>in</strong>tention to stir up mud or to deal with <strong>the</strong>sordid, but by uncover<strong>in</strong>g myself, to be a bless<strong>in</strong>g to o<strong>the</strong>rs.The Bible declares that grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Godhas married grace to truth. Many of <strong>the</strong> same people who sit <strong>in</strong><strong>the</strong> front row ask<strong>in</strong>g for grace can be found at <strong>the</strong> back rowrunn<strong>in</strong>g from truth. They don’t know that grace and truth aremarried and that it is impossible to have more grace withoutembrac<strong>in</strong>g more truth. Because God has graciously forgiven me,doesn’t make me better than ano<strong>the</strong>r man. A lot of people th<strong>in</strong>k<strong>the</strong>y understand grace because <strong>the</strong>y have received it. But if <strong>the</strong>ydon’t also m<strong>in</strong>ister grace, <strong>the</strong>y demonstrate <strong>the</strong>y don’t reallyunderstand it.As God blessed and added to our family, we became a crowdwith five daughters and four sons. Somehow, a crowd attracts acrowd, and we always had extras around <strong>the</strong> house, friends andplaymates. Among <strong>the</strong>m was a little girl who began to comearound when she was just five or six years old, and she becamealmost part of <strong>the</strong> family. I would sw<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> children around,carry <strong>the</strong>m piggyback and chase <strong>the</strong>m. And she jo<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> with <strong>the</strong>rest.The years rolled by, and Marj, her hands busy with so manybabies, found that this little girl was grow<strong>in</strong>g up and becom<strong>in</strong>gvery useful.
