7 The BlackoutA few of the stories that I am relating, especially the following,might offend some of my readers. My hope is, by exposing mymisdeeds and what lessons I have learned through God’s dealings,some might be spared from falling as they learn from mymistakes. It is not my intention to stir up mud or to deal with thesordid, but by uncovering myself, to be a blessing to others.The Bible declares that grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. Godhas married grace to truth. Many of the same people who sit inthe front row asking for grace can be found at the back rowrunning from truth. They don’t know that grace and truth aremarried and that it is impossible to have more grace withoutembracing more truth. Because God has graciously forgiven me,doesn’t make me better than another man. A lot of people thinkthey understand grace because they have received it. But if theydon’t also minister grace, they demonstrate they don’t reallyunderstand it.As God blessed and added to our family, we became a crowdwith five daughters and four sons. Somehow, a crowd attracts acrowd, and we always had extras around the house, friends andplaymates. Among them was a little girl who began to comearound when she was just five or six years old, and she becamealmost part of the family. I would swing the children around,carry them piggyback and chase them. And she joined in with therest.The years rolled by, and Marj, her hands busy with so manybabies, found that this little girl was growing up and becomingvery useful.
