Nobody moved.Suddenly, a young woman rose up. The m<strong>in</strong>ute she responded to<strong>the</strong> Spirit, we lost sight of her as a slim bit of a girl. She moved up<strong>the</strong> aisle with queenly dignity and came to where <strong>the</strong> bro<strong>the</strong>rwas stand<strong>in</strong>g. She touched him and down he went, flat on hisface. With all <strong>the</strong> dignity of royalty, she took two f<strong>in</strong>gers andmeasured between her two f<strong>in</strong>gers, and look<strong>in</strong>g down at him,she said scornfully, “Wilt thou measure <strong>the</strong> immeasurable with<strong>in</strong><strong>the</strong> conf<strong>in</strong>es of one small hour?” She turned around on her heels,walked back down <strong>the</strong> aisle, sat down, and became just an ord<strong>in</strong>arygirl aga<strong>in</strong>. Those were unusual meet<strong>in</strong>gs, and many peopleleft <strong>the</strong> church.About this time <strong>the</strong>re was a woman com<strong>in</strong>g to <strong>the</strong> meet<strong>in</strong>g whosehusband, <strong>the</strong> manager of <strong>the</strong> post office, was not a Christian. Hethreatened to lock her out of <strong>the</strong> house if she didn’t come homeat a reasonable hour. One could hardly expect an unsaved manto believe his wife was <strong>in</strong> church meet<strong>in</strong>gs until two and threeo’clock <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> morn<strong>in</strong>g. He believed she was <strong>in</strong>volved with ano<strong>the</strong>rman and was suspicious, judgmental and jealous.Look<strong>in</strong>g back, I realize now this woman was unwise. The Wordof God declares we will w<strong>in</strong> our partners by our chaste behaviorand it is questionable that God really wanted her to be <strong>in</strong> allthose meet<strong>in</strong>gs.God marries our revelation to our situation. My revelation mustwork <strong>in</strong> my situation, that is, <strong>in</strong> my daily life… which isn’t madeup of jump<strong>in</strong>g and shout<strong>in</strong>g demonstrations and conventions.The whole purpose of <strong>the</strong> Spirit of God’s com<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to a person’slife is to br<strong>in</strong>g that person <strong>in</strong>to reality, because <strong>the</strong> Spirit of God is<strong>the</strong> Spirit of Truth. What a tragedy it is when <strong>the</strong> world says, “Icannot hear what you say for <strong>the</strong> noise of what you are.”Revival meant bleed<strong>in</strong>g backs, prison cells and evendeath.When this dear woman found it necessary to leave her husbandbut had nowhere to go, Marj and I offered her a room <strong>in</strong> ourhouse. This only added fuel to <strong>the</strong> fire, because her husband accusedme of steal<strong>in</strong>g his wife and of hav<strong>in</strong>g two wives. Soon my79
