Peter off for having no faith. And here’s me, full of faith, and Hedoesn’t even help me to walk on water.” For several weeks Isulked. Then, one day I saw something in the Word: “And whatsoeverye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may beglorified in the Son.” (John 14:13) Then I understood what hadhappened. God does not answer prayer in order to answer prayerbut only answers prayer so the Father may be glorified in theSon. That’s where I’d missed it! God doesn’t save to save. Hedoesn’t heal to heal. He doesn’t deliver to deliver. He saves sothe Father may be glorified. Therewere young women attending too, but I was the only youngman. Having no male companions my own age made it difficultfor me, but I was hungry for God. Then I heard about a prayermeeting at the Miller’s. When I went there, the door was openedby a smiling old chap who had a “Father Christmas” beard andone eye — just one twinkling blue eye. I explained to him, “Someonetold me there was a prayer meeting here.”“Hallelujah! Come in!” he waffled through his whiskers. I couldhardly understand him.And there she was, bubbling over! 1927…I started going to the Miller’s prayer meeting, attending almostevery week.
