“Yes,” he said. “Let’s go. Well, over to you.”“No,” I said, “It’s over to you.”“Don’t you know where the meeting is?” he asked.“No.”“Well,” he said, “I don’t either.”So we started at 7:15 to call around to find the meeting whichwas to begin at 7:30. It was nearly 9 PM when I lost my peace, Iknew I was wrong. The Lord rebuked me, and I repented saying,“Lord, I believe I am not late for this meeting.”We continued our hunt and at 9:20 discovered a baby-sitter whodirected us to the meeting. We got there at 9:30 and tiptoed infinding everyone lost in the presence of God. If we had rode inon pink elephants, they wouldn’t have noticed us. I felt so guiltyabout being late. Here we were, arriving at 9:30 for a 7:30 meeting,and here’s me believing we are not late. Suddenly the leaderof the meeting looked up.“Well,” he said, “now we’ll ask Brother Arthur Burt if he willspeak.”I thought, “It is 9:30. What should I do? I’ll speak 10 minutes andthen sit down.” And so I did.The leader said, “We’ll break for coffee and cookies and thengather again at 9:45.” At the end of the break, he asked me againto speak and the meeting went on until 1:45 in the morning.As we walked out into the starlit night, a brother came up to meand said, “Well, Brother, you weren’t late to the meeting afterall.”“What do you mean?” I asked.“Well,” he answered, “you know how these Roman Catholiccharismatics are with reading their little letters, talking, announcements,and one thing and another. The meeting hadn’t been goingon long when you came in. The Holy Ghost didn’t comemuch before you did, so you weren’t really late at all!”206
