Whatever label you puton it, God intends to bring us to a promised land. This is notgeographical acreage, but is a tremendous spiritual dimension —the birthright of the believer, which Adam gave over to the devilin the Garden of Eden.There are three stages to the prophecy of Ezekiel 37. First: Thevalley was full of dry bones. Second: The bones came togetherand flesh grew on them. Third: Breath came into them and theystood on their feet, becoming a great army!The first two stages have been fulfilled, both for the Jew and forthe Body of Christ. After the dispersion and persecution of theJews, they have once again become a nation, established back intheir own land since 1948. The breath of the Holy Spirit, though,is not yet in them.The Church has come together bone to bone. In the flesh we arebecoming a recognizable Body, but even in this century of thepresence of the Holy Spirit, we still have not become a greatunified army. I believe there is yet to be a mighty, dramatic, awesomevisitation of the Spirit of God within His people whereevery breath we take is not our own, but His.God was using this situation to move meout of my ease.I knew God had spoken to me about building a house for theglory of God when I had first moved to Kent, but I didn’t knowwhether God would fulfill that Word materially or spiritually in184

Originally, God had spoken this to me out of Haggai,concerning going up the mountain and bringing wood to buildHis house.Because I initially thought this was about my home in PaddockWood, I approached Jim and Ted Robinson to do some renovationsfor me. Using demolition equipment, Ted knocked downthe walls of our 90-year-old conservatory and we began the taskof building a new one. Then we received a complaint from ourneighbors that we were six inches over the line onto their property.Even though we were rebuilding the conservatory walls exactlywhere they had stood before, the neighbors informed me thatlegal action would be taken against me if I didn’t remove ournew wall within a week. A man from the council authorities saidif I had only left a bit of the old wall, they would have consideredthis a repair. But since I had removed all of the old wall, Iwould have to comply. God was using this situation to move meout of my ease and to get me to re-examine my assumptionsabout building the house of God.About this time, I went to Brother Peter Appleton’s for a fewmeetings and afterwards, he offered to run me to a train. Theweather was so beautiful, though, I walked to the motorway topick up a lift, arriving at the roundabout at 7:00 in the morning.“Do you want a lift?”“Lord,” I inquired. “Do I go south or north?”A man swept around the corner and stopped his car, even thoughI hadn’t indicated I needed a lift. “I am going north to Preston,”he said. “Do you want a lift?”“Yes,” I answered and got into his car.
