ibly unscriptural to exalt somebody who speaks a few words intongues as being superior to a man like Billy Graham who haspreached the Gospel to more people than any other human beingin the history of the world.People in the world don’t read the Bible, but they do read us.“Being” is more demonstrative of the Gospel than merely speakingthe Gospel. Paul said, “And my speech and my preaching wasnot with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstrationof the Spirit and of power.” (I Cor 2:4) I believe the time hascome when we must allow God to manifest Himself, moving inus and through us. Then we will be effective ministers, demonstratingthe presence and power of God. Paul said he did notpreach out of man’s wisdom or education or with natural eloquence.He declared that his effectiveness, in spite of his inability,was due to the power of God’s indwelling Spirit.I am convinced about this: we are standing on the threshold ofthe last move of God which is going to be in the demonstrationand might of His Holy Spirit. If preaching alone could do the job,the world would be saved by now — at least, America would be!According to Paul Yancey in Fearfully and Wonderfully Made, 90percent of all the full-time preachers live in America where theyminister to only 10 percent of the world’s population. Nevertheless,God declares in His Word, “For the earth shall be filled withthe knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover thesea.” (Hab 2:14)There shall be no ebb.Almost like a scar in my being is a prophecy I received in 1936 —the only prophecy I can remember word for word in over 50years of ministry.“It shall come as a breath and the breath shall bring thewind and the wind shall bring the rain and there shallbe floods and floods and floods and torrents and torrentsand torrents. Souls shall be saved like leaves fallingfrom mighty oaks in the great forest shaken by thewind. Arms and legs will come down from heaven andthere shall be no ebb.”182
There shall be no ebb. This is significant to me. We have lived inthe day of measure, where every move of God has had an end.Revival is born from the breath of God until God raises His mightyarm — and the revival is over.How and why revival finishes has always concerned me. Is manresponsible for quenching the Spirit of God? Does the grievedHoly Spirit depart? Or is the ending of the revival predeterminedby God who places a ceiling to the outpouring of which Paul theapostle speaks, “…lest I should be exalted above measure”? (IICor 12:7) As soon as a man (or a people) touches the ceiling ofthat measure, does that automatically cause an end of the revivalwhich is for God’s glory and not man’s?There shall be no ebb. The ocean’s tide ebbs and flows continuously.It is easy to determine whether the tide is going out orcoming in by observing the sand. If at the edge of the water,there are broken sand castles, dug out holes, and debris of allsorts, including the filth man often leaves behind, then we knowthe tide is out. If, however, the sand is a smooth, unmarred expanseat the edge of the waves, it is obvious the tide has come inand the ocean has done its work of cleansing and washing awaythe debris. A spiritual tide without an ebb would mean that humanhistory has reached the “fullness of times” (Eph 1:10), ratherthan the repeated ebbing and flowing of the tide.We have come to a period in time where everything appears tobe coming to fullness: world population, travel, technology, anddefiance against authority. Now we await the final demonstrationof the glory of God on the earth when His purposes will beseen in the Body of Christ. I truly believe all the earth shall see theglory of the Lord! Not everyone will receive Him, but all menwill be without excuse who reject Him in that unmistakable dayof His visitation. It is Coming!The Jew… God’s pattern for His people.If you want to know what God is going to do with you, look atthe Jew as God’s pattern for His people.
