There was once alad who had five loaves and two fishes. It wasn’t so importantwhat he had, but where he put it. He put it into the hands ofJesus.“There is no power like the power of the Blood.”While attending one of Henry’s meetings, I met some brothersfrom the little village of Church Leigh in Newark who invited meto come to minister in their meetings. The first time I went, I tookmy daughter Miriam with me. We hitchhiked to the village throughsnow so deep that along the way, I had to shinny up a signpostand brush the snow off the sign to be sure we were going in theright direction. There was such a crowd in the village hall whenwe arrived that Miriam had to share a seat with someone, whileI sat on Henry’s piano accordion case on the platform.Over the next 20 years, I preached often to that group. Duringthe early days there, I met a young man, a salesman from a largecity, who ministered powerfully in some revival meetings. Manypeople were saved and healed under Robert’s ministry both inthe meetings and out on the streets of Church Leigh. He divorced her and married againbefore getting saved. Ever since he committed his life to God, hissecond wife had refused to have relations with him. This burdenhad become doubly hard to bear after he met and fell in lovewith a young Christian woman.“I really feel that I have found the partner I can live with andlove for the rest of my life,” he said. “I long to be a family manand to be a father. I don’t know what to do. I can’t think aboutanything except this girl. It’s almost like a fever.” I ministered tohim as best as I knew how, but Robert was disconsolate.125
