Using the H<strong>and</strong>listThe h<strong>and</strong>list is an alphabetical list of cemetery <strong>and</strong> crematoriarecords on microfilm located in the self service area. It alsoincludes records held within microfilm copies of the BishopsTranscripts. This is indicated in the film number column in theh<strong>and</strong>list. (See the h<strong>and</strong>list for Bishop Transcripts regardingdetails of how to access these microfilms)To find graves on the plan at Astwood Road <strong>and</strong> St Johns<strong>Cemetery</strong>. Find the grave number using the register of burials Look up the grave number in the register of graves to findthe names of occupants Use the plan of graves on the aperture cards to locate therelevant area in the cemetery (Please note these plans donot show the exact location of the grave)Other SourcesBurials can also be found in the Parish Church Registers (Seethe h<strong>and</strong>list for Parish Registers regarding details of how toaccess these microfilms)The National Burial Index is available on CD-ROM in the SelfService Area.If you need any further assistance please ask a member ofstaff.
