Introducti<strong>on</strong><strong>The</strong> first cemetery in Engl<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> was opened in Norwich in 1819.At the beginning of the 19th century, burying the dead was theresp<strong>on</strong>sibility of the Church of Engl<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> with n<strong>on</strong>-c<strong>on</strong>formistministers being forbidden to c<strong>on</strong>duct funerals in the parishchurchyard.
