in this event 3rd seed Emma Amin cruised to a 6-1,6-2 victory over JoCrow.Crack junior Oliver Sanders had a successful debut in the Men’s BSingles when he defeated the likeable and gallant Jack Benham 6-1, 6-3. Oliver’s great potential will also be put to the test with a likely matchagainst 4th seed Leo Montgomery. Brett Creed gave a good showingin defeating Elliott Thornley 6-1,7-6, and hopes for more successagainst 3rd seed Beetle Clay.In the Men’s B Doubles Elliott Thornley and Simon Kirke progressedwith a 6-4,6-3 win over Will Clack and Leo Montgomery, and Brett andThomas Creed beat Jack Benham and George Limpus 6-3,6-3.In the Mixed Doubles second seeds Finn Cowcher and Polly Lammingreached the quarter finals when defeating Harry and Lucie Challen 6-2,6-3. In the fun section of the draw Oliver and Philippa Sanders beatJosef and Emma Amin 6-3,6-4. And Steve and Gabriella Watson beatPeter and Sabrina Bradley 6-1,6-3. Sabrina at 8 years young is ourmost junior competitor, and looks a tennis star in the making!There was a really good clash in the Boys’ Singles when GeorgePettifer narrowly defeated Charlie Gyles 6-3,7-5. George showed greatresolution and consistency with his ground shots, whilst Charlie isdeveloping plenty of style into his game, and in a few years may have aserve to envy! There were also wins for Jacob Thornley over SebLimpus, and Kofi Atkinson over Jamie Thornley.In the Girls’ Singles the two Holly’s, Gyles and Benham, produced anexcellent match with Holly B performing well on her tournament debut,although it was Holly G who was the 7-5,6-2 victor. Trophy holder AilsaGreen defeated Molly Clay 6-1,6-2, and second seed Isobel Woodswas a straight sets victor over Cressida Lamming.In the East Hants League Division 3 the Ladies A team had tworesounding away victories, 8-0 at Denmead and 6-2 at Haslemere, butthen suffered a narrow 5-3 defeat home to Midhurst A. Midhurst wereled by wily veteran Claire Powell who with daughter Victoria won allfour of their rubbers. Our number ones Kate Hogan and Emma Aminwill have better days, although a late rally almost secured us a draw.Luckily Sian Green and Angie Thornley were in great form late onwhich kept the result respectable.
