Graffham Village Shop AssociationThe construction of the new premises for Stephanie, the pictureframer, is proceeding well although the carpenters have beenhampered by inclement weather. We expect to make the buildingwatertight by the end of June and can then complete the interior. The original building specification was modified to overcomeunforeseen former works on site, resulting in a building onecourse of bricks higher than planned. This would have resultedin the mandatory disabled access ramp spreading further thanwe would have wished. After discussion with the BuildingInspector we were allowed to reduce the specification of theinternal floor and lower the building by two brick coursesresulting in a far more aesthetically pleasing construction, together with time and cost savings. We now have a firm offer of funding from Barclays Bank for thenext stage of the development and are in the process of fulfillingthe requisite preconditions and would hope to start Phase II, theextension of the shop and the creation of the new residentialspace, during the course of the summer. Our thanks again to those members of the village who havegenerously contributed to this development and made a startpossible: we trust you are pleased with the development thus far.James WoodsChairmanGVSA AGMMonday 29 July, 6.00pmAt Graffham School18
