The <strong>Champion</strong> • Wednesday 27 November 2013Wharf winter wonderland!Report by Henry JamesHUNDREDS of visitors toBurscough Wharf enjoyed some ofLancashire’s finest fresh produceduring their Winter Food and DrinkFestival.More than 20 stallholders fromthroughout the county took partand the damp weather didn’t putvisitors off coming out to sampleand purchase a selection of foodand drink including local cheeses,meat straight from the farm, game,homemade pies, cakes, sweets,relishes and preserves.Burscough Brewing Company,offered free samples of theirhome–brewed beers, while Colinand Carole Wareing, owners of thepopular Wool Boat, welcomedpeople on board offering an insightinto life on the waterways.Wharf site manager, Ray Eckersleysaid: “The festival was a hugesuccess and we’re delighted withthe turnout, despite the miserableweather. We’ve had some fantasticfeedback from stallholders andvisitors.”All focus is now on the Wharf’sfestive celebrations.On Friday, November 29, for thefirst year since the Wharf opened in2011, Burscough’s village lightsswitch–on will coincide with theWharf’s, creating what’s set to be atruly community–focusedcelebration.Goldwing’s North West will startthe celebrations with a specialMotorbike Light Parade.
