Flood protection in Golling
New era for alternators
After heavy floods in the years 2002 and 2005 the county of
Salzburg enforced wide-ranged flood protection projects. The
showpiece project is the protection concept for the village
Golling, which has been finished this year after a construction
time of five years.
During flood and in order to prevent a power cut, three stateof-the-art
emergency power supply aggregates with 200, 300
und 400kVA were integrated by Hitzinger.
Hitzinger has received an order for an alternator at the end of the third quarter, which marks
the start for a new era – here are a few key data to portray the specialty of this alternator: 333
rpm, 1,100 kVA, vertical design, with a hollow shaft of 105 mm for the impeller adjustment. At
the end of the shaft a kaplan turbine with 2,700 kg is clamped, which creates a force of 17 tons
which is collected by the alternator. Special focus is also set on sound emissions, in order not to
bother the residents. The shipment of the 16 ton colossus shall be effected by end of next year.
