DedicationShe stands out as a woman member in a nearlyall-male faculty, as a patient and understanding teacherwith a personal concern for her students in an oftenautomated and impersonal world. To some she hasmeant a ride into town, an encouraging word after that"not-so-good" test or theme grade, or a cheering supporterat home games, and perhaps to others, a smileand some conversation.To her students her classes are best typified by herenthusiasm for her subject, and this enthusiasm spreadsfast. We will remember her thorough knowledge of herfield, and especially that certain insight she gave usabout an event or personality that makes the past seemso much a part of our present.Her energy and enthusiasm seem as bafflingiy inexhaustibleas the supply of her frequently assigned mapsand outlines.
