about the pool and s w i m l e s s o n sFLETCHER HILLS POOL AND RECREATION CENTER2345 Center Place9Fletcher Hills Pool is shallow the full length (25 yards) and is an ideal“learning” pool. Depths range from three feet <strong>to</strong> four and one half feet. Ourmajor program emphasis is on “learn <strong>to</strong> swim” classes for children. We also<strong>of</strong>fer lap swimming for adults. Swim lessons are based on American RedCross guidelines <strong>of</strong> swimming and water safety.The pool is closed for the <strong>Winter</strong> months. Water adjustment skills are stressed and ourgoal is <strong>to</strong> make the child happy and comfortablein the water.TINY TOTS Ages 3-5Learn basic water adjustment, safety and survivalskills, and beginning skills. Our goal is <strong>to</strong> teach the<strong>to</strong>ts <strong>to</strong> be happy and comfortable in the water, <strong>to</strong>be “water safe” as much as possible (floating andsafety skills), and <strong>to</strong> learn a form <strong>of</strong> locomotion,usually a modified crawl stroke. Some <strong>to</strong>ts progressonly as far as the water adjustment phases,others master a crawl stroke. Enclose a pho<strong>to</strong>copy <strong>of</strong> the Red Cross card <strong>to</strong> help place your child in the appropriate level. All children,with or without these cards, will be evaluated the first day and placed in<strong>to</strong> a class with children <strong>of</strong> similar skills.If registering more than one <strong>of</strong> your children and they must be enrolled at the same time, please indicate on theregistration form. Requests for transfers will be considered and processed if class space is available. A $5.00 feewill be assessed for each transfer.Refund PolicyYou may receive a transfer, credit or refund if an activity is cancelled by the <strong>Recreation</strong> Department. If you areunable <strong>to</strong> attend an activity, your request for a transfer, credit or refund may be granted if received prior <strong>to</strong>the 3rd scheduled class for 10-week classes and prior <strong>to</strong> the 2nd scheduled class for 5-week classes. Refundrequests will be assessed a $5.00 service charge and any classes attended may be deducted from the originalfees paid. Refunds will be mailed <strong>to</strong> you within four weeks <strong>of</strong> your request or applied <strong>to</strong> the credit card thatwas used <strong>to</strong> pay for the class. Credits will be issued in full and are valid for twelve months from the date <strong>of</strong>issue. Refund requests can be made in person at any recreation center or by calling 441-1516.Fee AssistanceThe <strong>El</strong> <strong>Cajon</strong> <strong>Recreation</strong> Department has a youth scholarship program <strong>to</strong> provide recreation opportunities forfamilies in financial need. You may obtain an Application for <strong>Recreation</strong> Youth Scholarship at any recreationcenter. This assistance is for <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>El</strong> <strong>Cajon</strong> <strong>Recreation</strong> Department classes only; it does not apply <strong>to</strong>independent contrac<strong>to</strong>rs’ activities or private swim lessons. For information on obtaining assistance ordonating <strong>to</strong> the Youth Scholarship Fund, contact the <strong>Recreation</strong> Department at 441-1516.
