In additionto poetry he has published short fiction for adults and children,and his non-fiction titles include the popular writers’ handbookThe Portable Creative Writing Workshop. His humorous memoirThe Invisible Prison: Scenes from an Irish Childhood, was publishedin 2009. A former editor of Poetry Ireland Review and presenterof The Poetry Programme on RTÉ Radio 1, he has edited manyanthologies, most recently Shine On (2010), in support of thosesuffering from mental ill-health.
