<strong>Report</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Commission on Financial Management <strong>and</strong> Control Systems in the <strong>Health</strong> Service6.6.3 It is agreed that (the employing authority) <strong>and</strong> the Consultants will work together, <strong>and</strong>will have the support <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Department</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Health</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Children</strong>, in identifying themost suitable management models for implementation in individual hospitals/hospitalgroupings.6.6.4 It is acknowledged that the effectiveness <strong>of</strong> the leader <strong>of</strong> the unit is dependent notalone upon the calibre <strong>of</strong> the person appointed but upon the support, co-operation,<strong>and</strong> commitment <strong>of</strong> the members <strong>of</strong> the unit <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Consultants in general.Theleader <strong>of</strong> the unit will be appointed by management on the recommendation <strong>of</strong> theConsultants in the unit <strong>and</strong> should be for a fixed term, (e.g. 3 to 5 years) <strong>and</strong> involvethe allocation <strong>of</strong> a number <strong>of</strong> designated sessions to fulfil his role.182
