It occupies an outstanding position among the nation'sgreat investment banking houses, with an underwriting and distributingeapaeity of hundreds of millions annually. The firmwas founded in 1903 as the Chicago branch of N. W. Halsey &Co., and in 1916 became Halsey, Stuart & Co., under which nameit has operated ever since.Halsey. Stuart & Co. has always confined its offerings tobonds, notes and debentures exclusively — in other words, tosenior, fixed income bearing securities. Its offerings include practicallyevery form and type of conservative issue — Industrial,Public Utility, Municipal, Railroad Equipment, Real Estate,Government, and Foreign. The great majority of its offeringsare originated by itself, either alone or with associates.As the largest bond organization in the Middle West, and oneof the largest in the entire country, it has been closely identifiedwith the financing of some of the most important business organizationsin the United States. Its list of underwritings representsa cross-section of the more important corporations and municipalitiesof the nation.Headquarters of the organization are maintained in Chicagowith major branch offices in ten cities and secondary offices ineleven cities.
