Served apprenticeship on <strong>the</strong> Wyoming Post-Herald. Later worked onStark County News at Toulon and Cambridge Chronicle at Cambridge. Worked on <strong>the</strong>Chicago American, Bureau County Tribune, Princeton Star Courier, Kewanee EveningMail, Galesburg Transcript and Evening Star and Evening Journal, Peoria; News-Scimitar,Memphis, Tenn. Purchased <strong>the</strong> Wyoming Post-Herald with bro<strong>the</strong>r in 1914. Becamesole owner in 191 S. Denson-—Born in Ursa, Adams County, <strong>Illinois</strong>, on January 30, 1882.He attended <strong>the</strong> rural schools and graduated from <strong>the</strong> Minonk High School in 1905.He first became interested in printing when <strong>the</strong> Ursa Trumpet was founded in <strong>the</strong>village in 1893 but it expired after ten issues. Shortly afterwards he purchased a smalljob <strong>press</strong> and did small jobs until May, S 1 s> s when he and Arlington Taylor, now a,district judge at Ft. Morgan, Colo., founded <strong>the</strong> Ursa Times. In 1899-1900 Densonworked in Chicago as a Gordon feeder and on March 1, 1900, again took charge <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Ursa paper and conducted it until January, 1901. On November 1, 1904, he purchased<strong>the</strong> Minonk Register and immediately changed <strong>the</strong> name to <strong>the</strong> Dispatch, which wasrun under that name until he purchased <strong>the</strong> Minonk News on November 1, 1913, andconsolidated <strong>the</strong> two papers under <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Minonk News-Dispatch, which hehas published since that time. He has always been interested in politics and was electedcity clerk <strong>of</strong> Minonk in 1907 and re-elected in 1909. He has been a delegate tomany county and state conventions, and in 1928 was elected alternate delegate to <strong>the</strong>National Republican Convention in Kansas City, Mo., for <strong>the</strong> seventeenth congressionaldistrict. In 1932 he was elected one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> two delegates from this district to <strong>the</strong>Republican National Convention in Chicago. He is chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Regional CodeAuthoritv for <strong>the</strong> divisions A-2 and A-5 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Graphic Arts for <strong>the</strong> state <strong>of</strong> <strong>Illinois</strong>.Married Miss Jane C. Ofnll <strong>of</strong> Ashley. <strong>Illinois</strong>, on October 24, 1914. Three sons.Modern Woodman, Kiwanis.639
