Warner—Born in Montgomery County, Indiana, January 24, 18 57.Died December 3 0, 1923.Educated in public grade and high school at Rossville, <strong>Illinois</strong>. Learned <strong>the</strong> printerstrade in <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Rossville Enterprise. Taught school for two years. In 1879worked as a printer on <strong>the</strong> Hoopeston Chronicle. On July 1, 18 82, he assumed <strong>the</strong>management <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Chronicle, and in 1887 he purchased <strong>the</strong> paper and published it until192 when he was forced to sell because <strong>of</strong> failing health. Was quite active in civic andpolitical affairs <strong>of</strong> Hoopeston. Radically opposed to saloons. Married Lillian Clark inDecember, 1883. One daughter. Knights <strong>of</strong> Pythias, Mason.J. M. Page—Born at Stoughton, Mass., May 20, 1845.Came to <strong>Illinois</strong> June 1, 1866. Entered <strong>the</strong> <strong>newspaper</strong> business 1880 at Jerseyville,when he took over <strong>the</strong> Jersey County Democrat, <strong>of</strong> which he is still <strong>the</strong> editor and publisher.Served as Mayor <strong>of</strong> Jerseyville four times; chief <strong>of</strong> police four years; Master inChancery <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Jersey County Circuit Court for 44 years. Married Sarah M. Reamer,1871. One son. A. F. and A. M.; M. W. A.; Elks; K. <strong>of</strong> P.; K. <strong>of</strong> H; R. X. A.; G. A. R.;W. R .C; and Eastern Star. Member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Baptist Church.William G. Dustin—Born June 7, 1850, at Corinth, Vt. Died February 14, 1918,at Dwight, <strong>Illinois</strong>.The family moved to <strong>Illinois</strong> when Mr. Dustin was a small boy. Attended schoolat Sycamore, 111. At <strong>the</strong> age <strong>of</strong> 13 years he accompanied his fa<strong>the</strong>r to <strong>the</strong> scenes <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Civil War. In 1873 he enlisted for U. S. Army service in <strong>the</strong> Indian wars, received honorabledischarge in 1877. He <strong>the</strong>n learned <strong>the</strong> printing trade and in 1S89 he was employedin <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dwight Star and Herald for one year. He soon purchased <strong>the</strong> businessand remained sole proprietor until 190 5 when he sold an interest to A. S. Holbrook.Besides being editor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Dwight Star and Herald he was editor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Banner, <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>ficialorgan <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> order <strong>of</strong> Sons <strong>of</strong> Union Veterans <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Civil War, later serving as Commander-in-Chief,<strong>the</strong> highest <strong>of</strong>fice in that order. He was active in political affairs.Married Miss Ka<strong>the</strong>rine Rodgers, December 26, 1878. Four children.W. B. Davis—Born July 10, 186 5 at Lexington, Mo.Came to <strong>Illinois</strong> in 1875, entering <strong>newspaper</strong> field as publisher in Mt. Sterling in1886 where he continues publication. Member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> school board for over a period <strong>of</strong>30 years; postmaster three terms. Married twice. Four children. Presbvterian. Woodman.631
