Brick, tile and canningfactories; bottling works.Coal mines, agriculture, live stock.The Petersburg Observer was first operated by Mr. Parks as aGreenback paper, but was later changed by him to a Republican organ.During his term as postmaster, Mr. Parks sold a half-interest to S. S.Knoles who acted as manager. Later Mr. Parks again assumed control<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> paper, selling it to R. B. Ruth. In 1908 <strong>the</strong> Observer was purchasedby L. F. Watson, who three years later sold an interest to C.H. Rush. Mr. Rush purchased <strong>the</strong> remaining interest in 1919 andowned <strong>the</strong> paper until September, 1925, when it was taken over bya company organized by S. L. C. Shaw. Since that time it has beenowned by <strong>the</strong> Petersburg Observer Company, under <strong>the</strong> management<strong>of</strong> Mr. Shaw. The Observer is pub'ished every Friday, and is Republicanin politics.Circulation, 1400.Advertising rate: local, 20c; foreign, 2 5c.Subscription rate: local, $2.00; foreign, $2.00.
