Agriculture.The Shelbyville Democrat was first established by Lloyd andWaggoner as <strong>the</strong> Independent, <strong>the</strong> name later being changed toDemocrat when Dr. Waggoner was sole ownerand publisher. Graybill Bro<strong>the</strong>rs & Co., was<strong>the</strong> name employed in 1887 when Thomas J.and George R. Graybill, toge<strong>the</strong>r with G. W.Cook took possession <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Democrat. TheIsaac S. Stormsenior Graybill later sold his interest, and <strong>the</strong>paper was published by George Graybill andMr. Cook until 1902, when Mr. Graybill sold his interest to IsaacS. Storm. The firm name was <strong>the</strong>n changed to The Democrat Company,which it has remained until <strong>the</strong> present day. As <strong>the</strong> nameindicates, this paper is Democratic in its political affiliation.
