It is a weekly paper, and as <strong>the</strong> name implies isIndependent in politics. In 1927 <strong>the</strong> Independent set a new highadvertising linage mark for <strong>the</strong> 7000 weekly <strong>newspaper</strong>s publishedin towns <strong>of</strong> 1000 population or less, and in <strong>the</strong> 1928 advertisinglinage survey <strong>the</strong> Independent was placed among <strong>the</strong> 2 5leading weekly <strong>newspaper</strong>s in America.
