我 们 的 社 区 Our Community雨 中 送 青 粽 礼 轻 情 意 重端 午 节 是 中 国 的 传 统 节 日 。 在 这 一 天 , 除 了 龙 舟 比 赛 外 , 粽 子 也 是 必备 之 物 。6 月 16 日 , 正 值 端 午 节 前 夕 ,GE 香 港 志 愿 者 前 往 灵 实 司 务 道护 养 院 看 望 那 里 的 老 人 , 和 护 养 院 的 老 人 们 一 起 包 粽 子 来 庆 祝 这 一 传统 佳 节 。粽 子 好 吃 但 难 包 , 包 粽 子 绝 对 是 个 技 术 活 儿 。 由 于 缺 乏 经 验 , 刚 开 始志 愿 者 们 无 从 下 手 , 不 知 道 该 如 何 将 这 些 粽 叶 变 成 有 模 有 样 的 粽 子 。但 在 老 师 的 耐 心 帮 助 下 ,GE 志 愿 者 们 渐 渐 掌 握 了 诀 窍 , 和 老 人 们 一 起包 了 80 多 个 粽 子 , 圆 满 地 完 成 了 这 项 艰 巨 的 任 务 。 之 后 , 志 愿 者 陪 伴老 人 们 一 起 做 游 戏 , 让 欢 乐 的 气 氛 无 限 蔓 延 。 除 此 之 外 , 志 愿 者 还 为 老 人 们 带 去 了 礼 物 以 表 达 节 日 的 问 候 , 更 是 贴 心 地为 护 养 院 的 爷 爷 们 送 去 了 一 份 额 外 的 父 亲 节 礼 物 。虽 然 那 天 下 着 瓢 泼 大 雨 , 但 丝 毫 不 影 响 志 愿 者 与 老 人 们 的 心 情 , 每 个 人 都 尽 情 地 享 受 着 活 动 所 带 来 的 乐 趣 。 虽 然 有 些 志愿 者 粤 语 讲 得 不 是 很 好 , 但 他 们 尽 其 可 能 将 欢 乐 不 断 传 递 。 希 望 以 后 有 更 多 的 同 事 参 与 到 这 一 活 动 中 来 , 给 老 人 们 送 去更 多 温 暖 与 祝 福 。GE 志 愿 者 为 北 京 民 工 子 弟 学 校 学 生 授 课Teaching Students in Suburban School4 月 20 日 ,20 名 来 自 GE 北 京 的 志 愿 者 参 加 了 由 国 际 青 年 成 就 举 办 的 活 动 , 为 一 所 郊 区 小 学 三 四 年 级 的 孩 子 们 授 课 , 讲 述 城 市 建设 的 有 关 知 识 。 在 志 愿 者 的 细 心 讲 解 下 , 聪 明 的 孩 子 们 很 快 理 解 了 市 区 规 划 设 计 、 建 造 和 蓝 图 的 概 念 , 对 自 己 所 生 活 的 城 市 有 了深 层 次 的 了 解 。 随 后 志 愿 者 们 走 下 讲 台 和 孩 子 们 进 行 互 动 , 教 他 们 如 何 使 用 尺 子 等 工 具 , 并 亲 手 指 导 他 们 进 行 练 习 。 最 后 , 志 愿者 们 将 建 筑 模 型 送 到 孩 子 们 的 手 中 , 并 让 他 们 亲 自 为 建 筑 设 计 各 种 类 型 的 功 能 社 区 , 每 个 学 生 都 从 中 获 得 了 为 建 造 城 市 做 出 贡 献的 成 就 感 。 在 课 程 结 束 之 后 , 孩 子 们 都 表 示 很 高 兴 能 学 到 城 市 建 设 方 面 的 有 关 知 识 , 并 感 谢 志 愿 者 们 给 他 们 上 了 如 此 有 趣 的 一 课 。On April 20, 20 GE volunteers from Beijing participated in a Junior Achievement activity to teach students from rural areas about citylife. Through the volunteers’ diligent work, the bright students learned about the concepts of city design, building and blueprinting. Theyalso gained a deeper understanding of the cities they live in. Students also received demonstrations and instructions in how to userulers to create scale drawings. Volunteers also provided building models to each student to allow them to make their own contributionby building different functional communities for a city, making every student feel proud of contributing to the city they live in. By day’send, the students expressed their gratitude to the volunteers for their guidance in providing interesting lectures and insight into citydevelopment.Celebrating Dragon Boat Festivalwith the ElderlyDragon Boat Festival is a special, traditional holiday in China, a time when people enjoy dragon boat races while eating ricedumplings. On June 16, volunteers from GE Hong Kong visited the elderly at Haven of Hope Sister Annie Skau Nursing Homeand made rice dumplings with them to celebrate this significant holiday.The rice dumplings, while delicious, are not easy to make. Each dumpling requires patience and persistence to make theglutinous rice wrapped in bamboo leaves. Since many of the GE employees were inexperienced when it came to makingthese special dumplings, a great deal of confusion ensued, mixed with laughter and an enjoyable time. After receivingproper instructions, the volunteers were able to make more than 80 dumplings with the elderly. Later, they played gameswith the elderly and gave them special gifts, with an additional present given to the elderly men in celebration of Father’s Day.While showers were persistent throughout the day, GE volunteers and their newfound elderly friends had a great day. Whilesome volunteers could not speak Cantonese, they tried their best to convey their happiness and joy to every resident at thenursing home.
